IJA Chairperson Attends the 2026 JET Programme Pre-departure Orientation and Farewell Reception

At the end of June, Raymond Hegarty, Chairperson of the Ireland Japan Association, was delighted to attend the 2026 JET Programme Ireland Pre-departure Orientation and Farewell Reception, kindly hosted by Ambassador Manabu Miyagawa and the Embassy of Japan in Ireland.

Raymond Hegarty met with this year’s JET participants and wished them well as they prepare to embark on an exciting new chapter in Japan.

Japan World Exposition 1970 Commemorative (JEC) Fund Grants | Apply Now!

The KANSAI OSAKA 21st Century Association​ is accepting applications for grants from the Japan World Exposition 1970 Commemorative (JEC) Fund for the 2022 Japanese fiscal year.

Please note that only applications submitted between 1 and 30 September 2021​ ​will be considered.

The Japan World Exposition 1970 Commemorative Fund Grant program (JEC Fund Grant program) was established in commemoration of the success of the Japan World Exposition of 1970, the theme of which was “Progress and Harmony for Mankind,” to convey the legacy and ideals of Expo ’70 to future generations.

The JEC Fund has offered grants to approximately 4,500 projects since 1971.  The JEC Fund offers grants for projects contributing to international cultural exchange and the enhancement of international goodwill, and international projects in the fields of education and academic study. In March 2014, the JEC Fund pledged to provide financial assistance up to 6 million Yen to Waterford County Council for the “Koizumi Yakumo Memorial Garden” project. The Lafcadio Hearn Japanese Gardens were officially opened in 2015. In March 2016, the JEC Fund provided 1 million Yen to bring an exhibition of Tomoko Sawada artwork to the MART Gallery in Rathmines in 2017. In March 2017, it also provided 250,000 Yen for the ‘Silent Film Live Show’ at the Chester Beatty in June 2017, and 600,000 Yen for a seminar at Trinity College Dublin in 2017.
