It is a privilege to address you as the newly elected Chairperson of the Ireland Japan Association (IJA). Having served on the Council for several years, I am honoured to step into this role following the dedicated leadership of my predecessor, Catherine Grennell-Whyte, and I am excited to lead the Association into this next chapter.

Building on our recent Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendation, my priority this year is to ensure the IJA remains the premier bridge between our two nations. The relationship between Ireland and Japan has never been more dynamic, spanning robust economic partnerships, innovative business collaborations, and a deep-seated mutual respect for our rich cultural heritages.

As we move through 2026, our mission remains clear: to grow, to innovate, and to connect.

Whether you are a long-standing member, an individual with a passion for Japanese culture, or a student just beginning your journey, I invite you to explore our upcoming events and be part of our growing community.
