Welcome to the Ireland Japan Association!

Our mission is to strengthen and celebrate the enduring friendship between the island nations of Ireland and Japan, fostering meaningful connections across business, culture, education, and society.

The Association was established in 1990 through the merger of cultural and business organisations whose histories stretch back to the 1960s. For decades, we have worked to bring together people and organisations with a shared interest in deepening connections between our two countries.

This year, we are proud to build on the recognition received through the Commendation of Japan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, which acknowledged the Association’s longstanding contribution to enhancing economic, cultural, and educational relations between Ireland and Japan.

It is a great honour to serve as Chairperson of the Ireland Japan Association and to continue this important work. Together with our dedicated Council of volunteers, I warmly invite you to take part in our events, initiatives, and activities as we continue to strengthen understanding, friendship, and collaboration between Ireland and Japan.

Whether you are a long-standing member or are joining us for the first time, we look forward to welcoming you and sharing in the growth of this unique and vibrant relationship.
