Welcome

Dear Members of the Ireland Japan Association,

As we step into 2025, I am very proud of the incredible milestones we achieved together over the past year. The Ireland Japan Association continues to stand as a unique and essential bridge between Ireland and Japan, fostering meaningful relationships across business, culture, and education. Our achievements in 2024 reflect the collective dedication of our members, and I am delighted to share our vision for the year ahead.

2024 has been a transformative year for the IJA. We have expanded our membership base, hosted groundbreaking events, and deepened the connections between our two nations. Our corporate events and initiatives have opened new opportunities for Irish and Japanese enterprises to collaborate, while our cultural and educational programs have celebrated the rich traditions of Japan. Through these efforts, the IJA has solidified its reputation as a key player in promoting Ireland-Japan relations.

Our focus for 2025 is clear: to build on this momentum by expanding our reach and delivering even greater value to our members. Whether you are an individual member passionate about Japanese culture or a corporate member seeking strategic business opportunities, our commitment remains steadfast. We aim to enhance your experience by:

  • Growing Our Network: Expanding our reach within Ireland and Japan to foster even stronger connections.
  • Delivering Value: Offering tailored events, workshops, and opportunities that cater to the needs of our diverse stakeholders.
  • Driving Innovation: Exploring emerging trends such as sustainable business practices, digital transformation, and fostering young talent through educational initiatives.

We are honoured to have Fitzwilliam Capital and Yamamori as our Patron Members for 2025. Their generous support and partnership are instrumental in enabling us to achieve our mission. We look forward to collaborating closely with them throughout the year.

As we navigate the opportunities of this dynamic year, some of our key priorities include:

  • Business Synergy: Hosting industry-specific forums to drive bilateral trade and investment.
  • Cultural Enrichment: Celebrating Japanese festivals, arts, and traditions while fostering mutual appreciation.
  • Educational Bridges: Strengthening partnerships between Irish and Japanese academic institutions. Support and host Japanese Language Courses for business and support English/Japanese Language Conversation groups
  • Sustainability and Innovation: Leading discussions on green technologies, renewable energy, and ESG practices as a shared priority for Ireland and Japan.

To each of our members, your engagement and enthusiasm make the IJA what it is today. Your participation – be it in attending events, contributing ideas, or supporting our initiatives – is the foundation of our success. Together, we will continue to create a unique, vibrant community that celebrates the best of Ireland and Japan.

Let’s make 2025 another extraordinary year for the Ireland Japan Association. Thank you for your unwavering support and belief in our mission. I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events and working alongside you to achieve even greater heights.

Warm regards,

Catherine Grennell-Whyte
IJA Chairperson
