We will be joined by representatives of the Embassy of Japan in Ireland, the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition where we will learn about our Global Ireland strategy, an introduction to Expo and our learnings from the Expo 2020 in Dubai.

Mr. Norio Maruyama, Ambassador of Japan to Ireland
Mr. Norio Maruyama was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Embassy of Japan in Ireland, in December 2022. Immediately prior to that he was the Ambassador to South Africa, Eswatini and Lesotho. Earlier in his career he was Ambassador to the European Union. He joined Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1983 having graduated from the University of Tokyo’s Faculty of Economics.

Mr. Yushi Tanaka, Executive Advisor to the Japan Association for the 2025 World Expo
Mr. Yushi Tanaka is the Managing Director of ORIX Aviation. He joined ORIX Corporation, a Japan headquartered multinational financial group in 2002. He moved to Hong Kong to diversify the group’s funding base in 2010 before moving to Ireland in 2013 to specialize in aircraft leasing. He is also chairman of the Japanese Business Society in Ireland in addition to his advisory role in promoting World Expo 2025.

Mr. John Concannon Director General, Global Ireland, Department of Foreign Affairs
Mr. John Concannon is the Director General of “Global Ireland”, which is an initiative designed to double Ireland’s international footprint by 2025. Previously, he held numerous leadership roles across both public and private sectors, including with Unilever, Dubarry, Fáilte Ireland, the Taoiseach’s Office and a number of other Government departments. He is a graduate of Galway University, and holds a Masters Degree in Business Studies, and a Postgraduate Higher Diploma in Marketing Practice.
