About Kintsugi
‘Kintsugi’ literary means gold (金 KIN) stitching (つぎ TSUGI) in Japanese. It is a Japanese art form of mending broken porcelain with lacquer (URUSHI), dusted with gold, or silver. This mending method of broken pottery with lacquer has been traced way back to the prehistoric time. With Kintsugi, the broken object gets transformed into a unique piece of art. The broken part is truly accepted and cherished as a history of the object, a form of art, rather than getting disguised with immaculate repairing. It has become more beautiful than ever. It is only one in the world, one in history. Japanese Kintsugi is not only just mending our broken objects with gold, but it has more profound meaning and teaching to our attitude towards life.

About Azumi Uchitani
Azumi is a global business and communication consultant, with over 25 years of experience in international business development, specializing in bridging the cultural gap between Japan and the West. In addition to her career in business and corporate training, Azumi is a multidisciplinary artist, writer, educator and public speaker. She was a founder of Japanese Salon Art & Culture in the Netherlands and is an active member of the art and culture community in New York and across Europe. Her artworks are appreciated in both corporate & private collections in New York, London, Amsterdam, and Dublin. Her expertise and insights have been shared with audiences around the world through her TEDx talks and her YouTube channel.
