Autumn Ikebana Workshops with Tomoko Sempo Yanagi

The Ireland Japan Association is delighted to invite you to the annual Autumn Ikebana Workshops, organised in cooperation with Tomoko Sempo Yanagi, Professor of the Ikenobo Ikebana Society and Chairperson of the Ikenobo UK & Ireland Group, and hosted by Warrenmount Education Centre, Dublin.

This is a unique opportunity to discover the history, philosophy, and traditions of Ikebana – the Japanese art of flower arranging, learn specific techniques from a leading Ikenobo professor, and take part in a hands-on workshop and create your own beautiful autumn Ikebana arrangement to bring home.

Date: Sunday, 9 November 2025
Times: Two workshop sessions available: 11 AM – 12.45 PM and 2 PM – 3.45 PM
Venue: Warrenmount Education Centre, 15/17 Mill Street, Dublin 8, D08 V58X

€65 – 1 workshop | €110 – 2 workshops
Includes: workshop participation, flowers, materials, 1 Kenzan (flower holder) and 1 ceramic container.

€45 – 1 workshop | €90 – 2 workshops
Includes: workshop participation, flowers, materials, and 1 ceramic container (If you choose this workshop option, please note that Kenzan is not included – attendees must bring their own!)

Ikebana is the ancient and meditative Japanese art of flower arranging, originating over 550 years ago with the Ikenobo school in Kyoto. About Tomoko Sempo Yanagi

Tomoko Sempo Yanagi is the President of the Ikenobo UK & Ireland Group and holds the title of Professor with the Ikenobo School of Ikebana. She has been immersed in Ikebana since childhood, with her first public demonstration taking place in California in 1989. Since moving to the UK in 1998, Tomoko san has exhibited her work and led workshops at a wide range of venues and events, including the Embassy of Japan in London, the Hammersmith and Fulham Flower Show, Google European HQ (Dublin), Cisco Poland, the Flower Council of Holland, as well as in secondary schools across London. In 2001, she was awarded a bronze medal at the Royal Horticultural Society London Flower Show. Educated and having lived in Japan, the US, and the UK, Tomoko san brings a unique international perspective to her teaching and practice. She is also a proud mother of Irish-Japanese sons.
