Welcome to the website of the Ireland Japan Association (IJA).
Our aim is to foster better understanding and connections between Ireland and Japan. We promote and support a wide range of business, cultural, educational and social activities to further this aim. The association is a community of individuals, families and corporate members who share this common interest.
Following our annual general meeting in March, we started with a new Council team.
In Ireland we are just finishing the Easter holidays and we are looking forward to warmer and brighter days. It is also the start of a new school / business year cycle in Japan after graduation time in the month of March.
There is a sense of a new start and a fresh season.
Looking back a year, we would like to thank all our members for your continuous support and participation.
Our annual dinner in February 2020 was our last face-to-face event before the shutdown. After that, all of the IJA communications shifted to the internet.
It was a unique experience. Our AGM was held online for the first time. That marked the start of the stay-at-home year.
Our first online talk was truly a global one between Ireland and Japan with differences in time and huge distance. We rose to the challenge and our members responded enthusiastically.
This gave us confidence to find other ways to continue connecting with our members with relevant activities. Throughout the year, we had various meetings, seminars, competitions and workshops.
We would like to thank the Embassy of Japan and Ambassador Kitano, our patron, for continued support and encouragement.
We are grateful to our members for their flexibility and active participation. We are also keen to welcome our new members to the association. We ask all members to support us by giving us new ideas and suggestions.
Best wishes to you all on behalf of the Council of the Ireland Japan Association,
